CMSW A, B, & C

I would like to welcome your students to Theatre at Coppell Middle School West!  We have an exciting year planned.  We have an active Theatre Club which is open to all interested CMSW students as well as Junior Thespian Troupe 88607 – an honor society for Theatre Arts students.  All interested theatre students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular department productions and activities.  Parents are welcome at all class and extracurricular performances.  All theatre students are required to attend one theatrical performance each semester they are taking a Theatre class.  Theatre B students may have one after school performance at a time to be determined .  Theatre C students will have several after school performances – these dates are yet to be determined.

Theatre classes will focus upon performance and creative drama activities which allow students to develop and practice applicable skills.  Students will learn about the conventions of theatre (drama, acting, history) as well.  Students will have little written homework; therefore it is very important that they be IN CLASS every day.

My primary goal in teaching middle school theatre is not to produce professional results, but to encourage self-exploration and creativity in a supportive and safe environment.  I would like my students to leave my class with greater self-confidence and awareness of his/her talents and abilities.  I encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, leadership and critical thinking in these classes.
